Congratulations to Abi Ghifari, our masters student who won 2nd prize in science series and 3rd prize in science category in the Annual Photography Competition 2017 held by ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology.
A massive congratulations to our group leader Dr Monika Murcha who has been awarded the prestigious WA Young Tall Poppy Award 2017 for her research in plant mitochondria and her involvement in promoting science to young students and encouraging women in STEM.
We welcome Caroline to the Murcha lab. Project student from France who will be investigating the consequences of overexpressing a variety of mitochondrial inner membrane protein translocases.
Come and see us at the Honours expo..... 11th Oct 2016
Murcha lab newest visiting student Joel Malm, from the Glaser laboratory @stockholm universitet has brought me the most amazingly sensible and awesome lab shoes ever.......
We welcome Jessica Andrews to the lab, who has just started her Masters of Biotechnology :)
Looking forward to this very special symposium
Whats been going on in the Murcha lab.....
We welcome Petra Schuhmann from the Soll lab (LMU), look at that awesome chloroplast prep!!!!
Look whats arrived........the complete "Plant Mitochondria, methods and protocols", in the Methods in Molecular Biology Series, 20 methodology chapters written by world leading experts, critical for all researchers in plant mitochondria.
SCIENCE WEEK 2015:
I was lucky enough to attend Maylands Peninsula Primary School during Science week to carry out strawberry DNA extractions for the Preprimary, Year 2's and Yr 4's. It was a massive day, 3 presentations and 60 extractions. I was so impressed with all the kids knowledge, enthusiasm and following the protocols perfectly. Well done kids... i hope to see a few budding plant scientists emerge.
SCITECH and Plant Energy Biology presents PLANTARIUM...
Awesome fun at Scitech with strawberry DNA extractions, activities, meet the scientists, Q & A, with a screening of PEB science on the Planetarium domed screen
